Job Summary: 

Directly responsible for the assignment, coordination and/or execution of the preventive and reactive maintenance duties required for the manufacturing operations of the plant. Priorities of the Maintenance Lead include overseeing the execution of PM schedules, repair of any equipment that is needed to maintain maximum production rates and maintenance of an adequate spare parts inventory. Additional priorities of the Maintenance Lead include driving a positive environment and engaged workforce that supports production activities. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week on a shift, weekends as required and fulfill on-call duties for repairs and assistance and demands advanced technical knowledge to oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex electrical/mechanical systems.

 

 

Essential Functions

Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                          

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on machines and their controls (blenders, scales, bottle unscramblers/fillers/cappers/labelers, case erectors, case sealers, encapsulation machines, tablet presses, coating machines, dust collector, water treatment equipment, stretch wrappers, DC /AC motor & drives etc).
  • Maintain and develop job skills through internal and external training programs.
  • Contact, specify, and order replacement parts & control components from suppliers through Maintenance Admin.
  • Effectively contribute to CMMS performance through timely PM & Repair Work Order completion while ensuring compliance to safety and quality requirements.
  • Lead preventative maintenance programs.
  • Guide and support team on troubleshooting machine problems as needed.
  • Work with Production Staff to ensure the safe and reliable operation of plant equipment.
  • Able to self-train and operate production equipment.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance and training to team members & operators.
  • Help develop and implement Continuous Improvement projects to improve production efficiencies and Safety.
  • Support Daily Management directives and initiatives.
  • Confer with personnel, such as Management, Engineering, Maintenance Admin, Quality control, Production Supervisors/Leads and external resources to coordinate work activities including projects.
  • Oversee preparation of work instructions that provide direction to the Maintenance Team for corrective maintenance repairs, performance of preventive maintenance and the implementation of modifications.
  • Conduct equipment inspections to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance.
  • Meet with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work.
  • Implement and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures as directed by Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in employee evaluations and assist employees to correct job skill opportunities.
  • Monitor vacation schedule of Maintenance Team and communicate coverage needs to ensure plant has adequate support.
  • Partner with Maintenance Admin and Production Lead to coordinate work assignments and communicate to affected departments.
  • Able to perform all maintenance planner duties.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Process improvement implementation, work with maintenance team, operations and engineering to improve equipment reliability.
  • Report/correct unsafe conditions in the building or with the equipment.
  • Lead and implement safety improvement projects or own a safety system.
  • Own the equipment in their areas and be a mentor to others.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and planning skills.

 

 

Experience Needed

  • 10 Years Industrial Maintenance Technician
  • 1 Year Leading a Team
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technician/Formal education in Electrical, hydraulics, pneumatic, Basic PLC and Drive training
  • TMP Training

 

Other Experience

  • Proficient using Electrical Test equipment: Voltmeter, Ammeter, ohm meter, Megger & etc.…
  • Advanced Understanding of machine function and Sequence of Operations of production machinery.
  • Expertise in interpreting complex technical materials for system maintenance including electrical, pneumatics and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of NEC.
  • Knowledge of UL508A and NFPA 79 codes preferred.
  • Lock Out Tag Out Safety procedures.
  • Arc Flash and PPE Requirements.
  • Advanced industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing and pneumatic skills including troubleshooting.
  • Strong ability with time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in electrical formulas and mechanical math.
  • Knowledge of 3 Phase Industrial wiring and power distribution.
  • AC & DC Drive / Motor PMs, wiring, parameter setup & troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot PLC I/O and networking.
  • Motion Training with Servo Drives and Motors.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and communicate effectively with other plant personnel as well as company resources, vendors and diverse teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Proficient using CMMS such as SAP and/or Upkeep
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge/skill in Root Cause Analysis, Problem identification and troubleshooting.
  • Fabrication skills including welding, guard fabrication and equipment modification etc. preferred.
  • Knowledge and some experience with machine shop equipment preferred.
  • Excellent safety record, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team.
