POSITION PURPOSE:
- Assures that all raw materials meet required quality specifications and are released with out delay into the system on a daily basis. Maintains current and accurate raw material specifications and all associated testing requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assures that all raw materials meet required quality specifications and are released with out delay into the system on a daily basis.
- Assures the accuracy and completeness of all receiving documentation.
- Maintains and supports computerized programs to log and release raw materials and components into the warehouse system daily.
- Maintains self-contained quality systems within the facility to maintain and provide an effective component receiving and testing program.
- Tracks supplier quality issues of all incoming components and raw materials.
- Assists in the quality evaluations of all incoming components and raw material suppliers.
- Compares Incoming certificate of analysis (COA) for accuracy and completeness.
- Reports and manages observations and inconsistencies concerning vendor issues, material issues and physical issues.
- Assists in CAPA investigations when incoming components and raw materials are an issue.
- Samples and prepares samples for in-house and third party lab testing according to Watson SOP.
- Sends samples to inside labs daily as required.
- Assures that all receiving labels are made and applied correctly.
- Accurately completes all required documentation.
- Updates the computer and releases materials in to the system.
- Dispositions the product as directed by supervisor:
- Releases the product into the system or
- Quarantines the product or
- Rejects the product.
- Performs daily GMP audit
- Performs Glass and brittle plastic audit.
- Performs off week pest control monitoring.
- Provides expired product reports as required.
- Provides insect susceptible reports as requested.
- Acts as key lead in third party audits.
- Responsible for adequately explaining job function, sampling, product release, etc. during an audit.
- Interacts with the Facility Manager, the receiving team and all quality personnel in the Orange Warehouse Facility, to efficiently plan and execute daily schedules and ensure timely material releases.
- Interacts with the receiving team as well as other quality personnel located in the orange warehouse facility forming a team that is responsible for segregating materials and components by vendor lot, sampling, identification, warehousing.
- Maintain the synergism of an operations and quality “Receiving Team”.
- May assist in investigations of returned goods, deviations, failures, and customer complaints.
- Maintains a QA log book for all daily notes and occurrences.
- Completes additional tasks and projects as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum: High School Graduate/GED
- Preferred: 2 or 4 year degree in Chemistry/Biology, or related discipline from an accredited college or university, or related technical experience.
- Ideal candidate will also have lab technical experience with testing and releasing raw materials. The lab experience should be dealing with the documentation and management of the lab function rather than the actual use of instrumentation.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- General Knowledge of the food manufacturing process is a plus.
- Ability to work with all levels of employees in a productive manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal/people skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of cGMP regulations is a plus.
- Capable of running Raw material test equipment NIR, Scales, Sieve or Particle size equipment, as needed.
- Capable of training selected operations warehouse staff as back up raw material quality technicians to guarantee continuous service.
- Familiar with computer systems and can set up and maintain job related data bases.
- Must be organized and have good attention to detail.
- Must be able to complete forms and write in a legible manner.
- Ability to multi-task and bring tasks to completion.
- Must be computer literate and able to learn how to use the company’s computer system.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must be able to perform general math including percentages.
- Must be able to work in an efficient and productive manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None – how ever this position will be regarded as a “team leader” in that they will exemplify all that quality stands for and help coordinate quality issues.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Sexual Harassment Prevention
- Forklift operation
- SOPs as required.
- On going cGMP training to stay current with all areas required by the company.
- Any other recommended/required training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and walk about the building.
- May be required to use a pallet jack and or a fork lift to move product about the building.
- May be required to push and or pull carts with wheels containing product being moved about the building.
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
- Must be able to comfortably lift 50 lbs.
- Continuous mental and visual attention required.
- This is a standard 8 hour shift with possible overtime when required/authorized.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Lab coats/uniforms when on the warehouse floor.
- Safety Glasses when on the warehouse floor.
- Gloves as required.
- “Dust” masks as needed/required.
- Any other PPE as required/recommended.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in a warehouse assembly facility with air borne particles, moderate noise, and temperature extremes.
OTHER:
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
