The Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Senior Quality Co-Ordinator role is to ensure all products meet the requirements of the internal & customer specification and are produced in line with the requirements of the Quality Management System. This will be ensured through completion of positive release protocols following both internal & external testing requirements

 

Where and how you will work:
The opportunity is based in Middlesbrough with the management of 1 direct report and a total Technical department of 30+ members in a typical modern food manufacturing environment. For this job role, individuals can benefit from some Smart working with approx. 90% time spent on site.

 

Role Responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Welfare:

  • Contribute to a safe working environment such that equipment, plant and people meet with legislative and internal health and safety standards at all times and support the risk assessment, safe system of work and Accident / Near Miss reporting processes.

Food Safety, Quality & Legality:

  • Ensure all products meet the requirements of the internal & customer specification and are produced in line with the requirements of the Quality Management System. This will be ensured through completion of positive release protocols following both internal & external testing requirements
  • Ensure all relevant BRCGS, customer and regulatory standards are met and maintained as specified by the QA Manager and the Quality Management System.
  • Produce Finished Goods Certificate of Analysis / Conformance as required by customer needs
  • Member of the HACCP team, assisting in developing, validating, implementing and updating the HACCP study
  • Liaise with R&D during trials and support first productions.
  • Ensure compliance with customer codes of practice.
  • Ensure product reference samples are maintained
  • Develop, maintain and report on the external microbiological & chemical testing programs.   Maintain the validity and accuracy of all testing methods and equipment.
  • Develop, maintain and report on the internal chemical & physical parameters analysis and testing programs.
  • Develop, conduct & report on environmental micro swabbing and gluten swabbing programs
  • Manage and control Out Of Specification goods and liaise with Operations teams to meet quality and food safety requirements whilst endeavouring to meet production plans
  • Manage & control Finished Product write offs
  • Ensure you are conversant with the testing methods and techniques of water activity/ calibrations/ weight data/ probe calibration/ chemical concentrations, ensuring an appropriate level of assurance and a strong due diligence defence
  • Supporting taste panel across the site, in conjunction with the operations team.
  • Promote Good Manufacturing Practices and good standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained
  • Collect and maintain Quality KPI records in your area of responsibility
  • Participate in BRCGS/Customer audits as required. Ensure records are maintained for the site certifications including BRCGS, Informed Sport
  • Responsible for leading quality investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and closed out.
  • Working with the wider site and technical team ensure all relevant KPIs are completed on time.
  • Represent the technical team at key meetings ensuing all actions are feedback and followed through to completion.

What you will bring to GPN:

  • Previous food industry experience within a quality or technical function essential.
  • A Degree or HND standard of education in a relevant discipline or time served within a food factory environment
  • Level 3 or above in Food Hygiene.
  • HACCP qualification
  • TACCP / VACCP experience
  • Basic microbiology and chemistry experience
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) is essential and SAP experience would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of online portals such as Laboratory Submission and Management QADEX and Retailer Specification Management Systems would be beneficial.
  • The ability to work in a fast moving rapidly changing business is essential.
  • Highly organised with ability to prioritise workload and engage with a team to deliver
  • Great team player with the ability to influence
