Accounts Receivable Specialist for Deductions


A vacancy has arisen for an Accounts Receivable Specialist at Glanbia Business Services in Aurora, Illinois. This is a full time position and will report to the Credit Controller.


While likely to be initially working remotely due to current restrictions, the base location of the role will be Aurora, Illinois, upon return to the workplace with a blended working arrangement available through our Smart working model which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better

Reporting to the Credit Controller, the Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist will be responsible for allocating and reconciling customer payments, including international accounts, national grocery chains and retailers.  They will initiate the deduction management process after obtaining the necessary information to recover funds for the business unit.  This position may need to assist in contacting delinquent accounts to ensure company cash position.  The working hours for this position are 8:30am-5:00pm M-F.


Key elements of the role

  • Allocate and reconcile customer payments daily.
  • Manage customer deductions and obtain backup data from customers including national grocery chains and retailers for further analysis by business unit.
  • Enter customer deductions in system for business unit to recover deducted fund.  
  • Assist collectors to resolve any dispute to ensure timely payments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve customer issues.
  • Produce monthly team reporting and various reporting of accounts receivables.
  • Participate to projects to improve Accounts Receivable department processes and procedures.


Requirements for the role


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline (business, finance, accounting).


Skills & experience

  • Proficient to Advanced Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel-vlookup, Pivot, Macros
  • 3+ years’ experience in Accounts Receivable role in retailer’s portfolio with deductions.
  • Experience in a shared services environment an advantage.
  • Experience in a retailer’s vendor/supplier portal is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
  • Must be proactive and flexible to work across other teams as required.
  • SAP experience an advantage.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
