As the Senior Process Engineer you will: 

  • Lead discussions around technical challenges with cross functional groups
  • Understand and determine impact of ingredient characteristics (size, density, angle of repose, flow) on mixing & segregation. Use learning to make recommendation for ingredient selection to improve product consistency.
  • Provide input & develop solutions for Manufacturing Team to maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Handle advanced/complex projects and ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Understand and determine impact of ingredient interactions on process capabilities
  • Provide recommendations during incident investigations.
  • Identify and source testing equipment required for evaluation and studies of powder blends.
  • Design and execute experiments to relate powder properties with performance in Manufacturing.
  • Create and train standard operating procedures and best practices across R&D, Manufacturing and Quality.
  • Work within R&D group and operations and will office from 948 Meridian, Aurora, our manufacturing plant. 
  • Projects will be defined by R&D management to provide Manufacturing Food Process Engineering support:
    • Define optimized process operations for new products (primarily powder blends) for scale-up to the plant
    • Assure optimized blending and processing for current products being manufactured for sale
    • Identify critical process steps to assure flawless manufacturing every time.

 

Decision Making/Problem Solving

  • Scope and define required processing for new products as they move through development to manufacturing.
  • Identify critical physical requirements and measures required to understand issues with powder  production
  • Use critical thinking skills to uncover fundamental issues and root cause when products are not processing as expected.     
  • Define upper and lower process control limits by leveraging strong knowledge of processing equipment and technology.                         

 

 

Ideal experience includes: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Process, Chemical or Process Engineering or similar with 5 years in Food or Supplement manufacturing
  • Specialized training in: optimized powder mixing, segregation mechanisms, powder blend/ingredients characterization and selection, powder flow, and anti-segregation mechanisms/strategies.
  • Good analytical skills and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Deal with ambiguity and make decisions when clear answers are not available.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with other employees working with the production process
