Overview

The successful candidate will be based in Ballyragget within the R&D function reporting to the GIIC (Glanbia Ireland Innovation Centre) pilot plant manager. The R&D GIIC Pilot Plant Specialist will operate and assist with pilot plant trials and activities and the development and optimisation of dairy processes including liquid milk and cream processing, heat treatment, drying technology, evaporation, membrane separation, and CIPs. The role will support warehouse, laboratory and general facility tasks. The role requires someone that is enthusiastic and willing to learn, ideally with food manufacturing, heat treatment, liquid milk and cream processing. The successful candidate will have a background in Food science/Technology and or food manufacturing

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the completion of pilot trials in compliance with all R&D procedures;
  • Operate pilot plant equipment within safety and quality guidelines;
  • Optimization pilot plant liquid process;
  • Monitor and record all time, temperature, pressure, and flow requirements for the various unit operations;
  • Cleaning of all tanks, process equipment and lines as necessary;
  • Support pilot plant operations performing general duties;
  • Support the R&D team trials and activities at the new R&D facility;
  • To receive goods inwards and stock management;
  • Identify discrepancies/ quality issues with goods in/out;
  • Safe and efficient operation of a palletizer;
  • Ensure high levels of Hygiene are maintained in the work area;
  • Any ad hoc duties as required.

 

 Experience

  • Experience in plant / pilot plant operation;
  • Technical knowledge of liquid processing is desirable;
  • Optimization of dairy processes;
  • Good level of computer skills;
  • Ability to learn quickly;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Good communication skills;
  • A good understanding of food manufacturing and processing;
  • Willing to learn and results-orientated;
  • Fluent in English.
