Job Summary

The Procurement Coordinator for Direct Procurement will operate in a rapidly expanding, fast moving, and complex business with supervision.  Will support the Category Management Team’s tactics and strategy, managing and collecting documents associated with sourcing, supporting cost savings initiatives, assurance of quality requirements and achieving KPI’s while ensuring that the day to day operations and projects deliver and run efficiently.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

  • Perform sourcing activities and collection of documents in CRM required by R&D / QA for new approvals including upload to sourcing database as directed
  • Help qualify strategic secondary and third sources to mitigate any risk of supply or to react quickly to offset any current supply issue
  • Manage MOC’s related to strategic or cost savings opportunities as needed (supply/production issues excluded)
  • Help qualify new sources whenever Quality does not get a prompt response from our suppliers
  • Request samples in CRM and as needed by the Category Team for special projects
  • Perform small value spot buys as needed
  • Support the Category Team in the implementation of special projects related with strategic management
  • Collaborate actively with our counterparts in Germany and China as needed in the development and execution of projects and initiatives
  • Use SAP, Ariba, and PDM tools to engage internal customers and external suppliers
  • Promote and develop effective supplier relationship management
  • Foster the Glanbia culture and its values through outstanding communication and customer service
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required. University classes and degree preferred. 

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of business experience; college education can take the place of work experience
  • Working knowledge of and experience with food or fortification manufacturing environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • An ability to work with diverse set of suppliers across multiple regions
  • Strong business understanding and orientation and effectively handles multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities
  • Passionate about the business, will be a strong external ambassador / advocate for the business and will be highly collaborative with the ability to work successfully across teams, regions and functions
  • Strong cultural awareness based on past exposure, experience, and successful business dealings 
  • Highly detailed with a systematic approach, sense of responsibility and positive customer focus
  • Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), to include speaking clearly in positive or negative situations
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism
  • Works with supervision while remaining productive at all times
  • Must be results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team goals
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment is a must
  • Possesses a passion for learning new skills

Language, Computer &   Numeracy:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English required
  • Experience with and solid understanding of ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP with the ability and desire to work within and progress such complex systems with eTender and Business Objects experience also preferred. Ariba experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong math skills, and knowledge of the metric system, are required
  • Heavy Data analysis including MS Excel pivot tables and spreadsheets to do calculations on cost potency changes, percentages, etc

Travel Requirements

Periodic domestic travel required (~up to 5%)
