An opportunity has arisen for a Senior System Administrator with Glanbia Business ServicesThis is a permanent opportunity and will report to the Global IT Operations Lead, US West.

 

The base location of the role will be onsite at our plant in Clovis, New Mexico, with a blended working arrangement available through our Smart working model which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better work-life balance. 

 

Overview

The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the reliability and access of all distributed applications, server based systems, networks, and compliance of critical systems for all operations of the US West IT infrastructure and services for manufacturing and distribution, commercial offices and mobile /home works.

 

Key Elements of the Role

  • Perform in a 24x7 multi-disciplinary technical team in the day to day systems administration, management and support of US West IT infrastructure services
  • Act in a key on-site (and regional) resolver group for support where necessary and acting as the link between Service Desk and Users
  • Provide IT operations’ services for regional IT infrastructure and services
  • Ensure all global IT operations standards and policies are adhered to
  • Log and track all incidents, problems and change requests
  • Perform key on-site (and regional) administration of H/W and S/W rollouts
  • Operational services include:
    • Act as the main contact for application support for various regional distributed applications
    • Maintain regional server base equipment such as servers, switches, SANS, and other devices
    • Regional application support for various distributed applications
    • Assist in the regional implementation and documentation of various systems to include servers, switches, SANs, and critical software applications
    • Maintain and monitor procedures for all regional antivirus systems
    • Maintain and monitor procedures for all regional server and critical system backups
    • Regional  assistance in monitoring, planning, and coordinating the distribution of Glanbia client/server software and service packs
    • Regional hardware build activities, in coordination with Deployment/Technical Projects/Infrastructure Projects team
    • Regional software deployment of Glanbia standard builds to clients and servers
    • Perform regular regional maintenance functions to assure maximum performance and reliability
    • Regional assistance in monitoring, planning,  and coordinating network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware in coordination with Network/Security team
    • Regional telephony administration
    • Regional site access control administration
    • Regional planning and implementation of new and existing hardware and software
    • Regional infrastructure support including weigh bridges, scanners, kiosks, voice picking, etc.
    • Assist in licensing and other documentation efforts as directed
    • Regional and on-site incident resolution as escalated from Service Desk when required
    • Train people in computer system use
    • After hours support on a rotational basis
  • Support for the delivery of local projects to agreed designs, timeframes and budgets
  • Access and identify appropriate solutions to be integrated into regional operations and make recommendations for implementation in coordination with Deployment/Technical Projects/Infrastructure Projects team
  • Deliver increased “IT Fluency” across the user landscape through initiatives specifically designed to increase user awareness, proficiency and efficient use of the IT tools available
  • Create and maintain good technical documentation

Qualifications

  • 3rd Level relevant technical qualification 

 

Experience

  • Excellent working knowledge of servers, networks and equipment, personal computers, laptops, and peripherals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), to include speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while remaining productive at all times
  • Result focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team goals
  • Ability to work within a regional IT operations team environment
    • Function as a team with a regional approach to IT Operations
    • Deliver IT services locally and regionally
    • Prioritisation of work
  • Relationship management with regional users and wider GBS teams
