Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring warehouse functions efficiently for both the Cheese and Powder warehouses in a safe working environment.  Oversees and organizes with Customer Service and Sales what products are available for specific customers then allocates and coordinates product movement with logistics and other warehouses. Drives team to provide perfect order satisfaction to customers in quality, order fulfillment and on-time delivery.

 

Essential Functions

  • Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Manages employees in the cheese and whey handling areas of the warehouse. Addresses issues relating to the Cheese and Whey customer complaints received from sales or complaints directly from customer.
  • Informs Sales/Quality Assurance Manager of customer of complaints.
  • Works with sales/quality assurance to identify and classify Premium vs. down grade product.  Finalizing schedules for shipping.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to run, or learn to run and troubleshoot all equipment in the Warehouse.
  • Excellent attendance and safety record.
  • Desire to grow with the company.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possess general understanding of export requirements and policies.
  • Ability to calculate correct percentages of product types to use in product blends, based on existing recipes/formulas.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Possess good understanding of OSHA, USDA, HACCP, Loss Control, and Safety policies/practices.

  • Should be able to judge distances and spatial relationships.

     

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment and light traffic).
  • May work near mechanical moving parts and in cold temperatures.

     

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel limited within the local area.
