Position Overview:

Break Relief Operator supports various positions in the plant to assist with coverage of breaks and vacation. Individual must also have the ability to operate all production machinery for daily shift production. Perform cleaning/sanitation as required.  Employee has the responsibility to report food safety hazards or concerns to their immediate supervisor. This candidate must have competency to be able to perform filler, unscrambler, QC positions, sleever, and case packer duties.

 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Have knowledge of all machines on assigned production line (see various job descriptions)
  • Ensure breaks and meal periods are given to employees in a timely manner and as labor laws require
  • Work in a safe and accident free-manner by wearing and keeping in good condition all required safety equipment and PPE’s
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, GMP’s, code of safe practices, and SOP’s
  • Check product specification to ensure correct packaging materials and raw materials are being used and coding is correct
  • Continually check products to ensure that they are within specifications and of high quality i.e. no leaks, proper and accurate lot numbers, ensure boxes and pallets have correct labeling and lot number information
  • Perform machine change-overs as required
  • Replenish packaging supplies such as film, boxes, cartons, glue, ink or labels
  • Make adjustments to machine as necessary and observe to detect any malfunctions
  • Clear away any damaged product containers
  • Keep work area clean following HACCP program
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation on machines as required between products
  • Perform trouble shooting, minor repairs and communicate with mechanics regarding any mechanical problems
  • Ensure that down time tracking and all lot information is completed accurately and in timely manner
  • Have constant awareness of production flow; upstream and down stream

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in food manufacturing environment or equivalent type of manufacturing

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
