Job Summary

Perform physical and chemical analysis testing, support and execute critical decisions to ensure that products are meeting quality and safety standards as well as customer specifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

  • Assist Management, Production and Quality Team Lead to ensure plant productivity, quality and safety standards are met.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures in order to keep all employees safe while producing quality products.
  • Be responsible and accountable to maintain Glanbia GMP site standards which include FDA, OSHA and California state standards.
  • Ensure product quality and food safety by adhering to the quality, systems set in place. (HAACP, SQF, SOPs, GMPs)
  • Be involved in the Food Safety Team and help audit and close out any finding..
  • Continually check products from batching area to downstream to ensure that they are within specifications and meet quality expectations.
  • Perform pre determined analytical checks and grant approval in their respective shifts.
  • Collect and sort finished good sampling according to pre determined sample plans
  • Perform microbial and allergen swabbing and sampling
  • In case of deviation, QA Lead is  responsible to make critical decisions and escalate the issue to his/her higher manager.
  • In case of any non conformance, follow the hold procedure and communicate holds to the Aspectic solution team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in verbal and written communication and behavior.
  • Know and adhere to Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and hold others accountable to do the same.
  • Be responsible to generate the shift report and communicate results to higher manager
  • Closely follow written and oral instructions from supervisors and management.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and possess a desire to grow and accelerate within the company.
  • Escalate any issue and communicate the issue to maintain quality and help to investigate and close the gap.
  • Ability to investigate and find the root cause of any issue.
  • Have good understanding of GDP and be able to do auditing on document accuracy
  • Collaborate with other teams (production, micro and batching) in the case of any problem.
  • Issue production documentation for use and review paperwork throughout the shift and assist production supervisor in collecting and performing final review on paperwork.
  • Report out to higher management on Plant Quality Performance and Quality metrics
  • Have good understanding of GMPs.
  • Ability to identify non conformances and investigate, report and follow corrective action.
  • Ability to  investigate Lost Scene Investigations and creating standard work instructions/ One point lessons.
  • Regular attendance and schedule flexibility is an essential function of this position.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:

  • Associate degree in Food Science, Biology or chemistry or a minimum of three years of experience in fast-paced food manufacturing environment with specific experience in quality testing of beverages.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 1-3 related QA experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent attendance and safety record required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and visual metrics.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to interpret and closely follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Possess high level of accuracy, organization and consistency.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with supervisors and/or respective department personnel regarding production and filler status and problems encountered.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Possess intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills and ability to make decision under pressure.
  • Possess motivation to succeed in a fast-paced production environment and the willingness to be a fully engaged employee in the company.
  • Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid form as well as allergen products.

Language, Computer &   Numeracy:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written
  • Computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with SAP is preferred

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal domestic travel required (<10%)

  • May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).

  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.
