The Deductions Analyst is a key part of the GPN Trade Finance team primarily, responsible for reviewing, auditing and clearing customer deductions taken as payment for GPN’s various trade programs.  The Deductions Analyst at GPN will have a strong understanding of our customer trade spend activity and how each customer deducts for various trade programs.  This role requires a detail-oriented and process-oriented individual with a clear understanding of how to review and audit each deduction to ensure the amount deducted for is valid and accurate.  Additionally, the Deduction Analyst will play a key role in maintaining our actual trade spend database to facilitate reporting actual trade spend by customer and SKU.  Candidates for this role need to be self-motivated and highly organized. Furthermore, candidates need to have strong communication skills and the ability to work diligently and cross-functionally to resolve open issues and disputes with customers. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of all agreed upon trade spend at a customer and deal level
  • Work with customers and our A/R team to ensure customer deduction backup is received timely and follow-up when additional information is needed
  • Ensure deductions are properly categorized and coded to the correct customers, brands, spend category, deal codes, etc.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of all deductions received to validate that the deduction taken is in accordance with agreed upon terms and that the amount taken is accurate; maintain clear and detailed records of validation procedures performed
  • Dispute unapproved and inaccurate deductions with external customers in order to receive repayment; maintain strong customer relationships to ensure timely resolution
  • Convert customer deduction support to SKU level (as needed) and manage our internal SKU level trade spend database
  • Support the broader GPN Finance team with monthly reporting and accruals and various ad-hoc projects

     

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and externally to resolve disputes and inaccurate deductions
  • Highly detail-oriented and especially accurate in performing tasks and cross-checking work
  • Ability to manage and work proficiently with large sets of data
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Trade promotion management system and/or SAP experience beneficial
  • Highly willing to learn and master new trade promotion management systems and processes as needed

 

Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred but not required
  • a minimum of 1 year of experience
