Director of Warehousing and Logistics

 General Summary:

Oversee and direct Warehouse Operations, Logistics and Inventory Control functions for US based shipments.  Position will develop innovative Warehousing and Logistics strategies while driving organizational goals and objectives.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the warehousing, distribution and logistics organization to ensure that Product Supply strategy and programs are executed to continuously improve company results;
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills across the entire Product Supply organization;
  • Ensure that error free customer orders are processed and shipped within identified timelines;
  • Maintain and manage excellent inventory control processes to facilitate timely shipping of goods;
  • Manage costs with budget while delivering against identified productivity projects;
  • Direct contract negotiations with identified suppliers;
  • Maintain daily, weekly, monthly KPI’s to ensure the success of Warehouse and Logistics Operations;
  • Identify and drive warehouse and logistics process improvement projects and initiatives;
  • Drive the development of business relationships with GPN customers and vendors;
  • Direct pricing and performance reviews in order to identify service and cost reduction opportunities;
  • Ensure the existence, maintenance, and functioning of appropriate controls for all warehousing operations doing business with GPN (both internal and external);
  • Develop and manage the warehouse/logistics operations budget and all related fiscal forecasting and planning activities;
  • Oversee and ensure all logistics-related operations comply with applicable environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance;
  • Maintain departmental and organizational ability to support the growth and expansion of identified company business plans and direct to consumer operations strategies;

     

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain Management;
  • Standard Logistics management SOP’s and warehouse system knowledge;
  • Broad knowledge of material handling, warehouse operations and transportation systems required;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on executive level communication (internally and with vendors/customers);
  • Training, team building, continuous improvement, negotiation skills, interdepartmental interaction, leadership and supervision;
  • Budget development, analytics, and overall management;
  • Ability to work without direct supervision while efficiently managing tasks and time;
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize;
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement Product Supply best practices;
  • Solid administrative and people leadership skills;

     

Decision Making/ Problem Solving:

  • Must be able to continuously improve processes to increase service performance while driving out cost;
  • Ability to develop a relationship with both internal and external customers in order to quickly address issues/needs;
  • Must have experience in evaluating and determining network capabilities needed to support a growing business for Warehousing and Logistics;

 

Education/Experience:

  • Four year degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, Supply Chain, or  related field;
  • Post graduate work in related fields, certification in APICS or similar professional organization preferred;
  • 8 – 10 years of  leadership experience across multiple Supply Chain disciplines (Planning, Warehousing, Transportation, Customer Facing Supply Chain work).   Prior Logistics and Warehousing experience preferred;
  • Experience in Food Industry preferred;
