Financial Analyst - Trade

The Financial Analyst - Trade will primarily be responsible for analyzing trade expense including but not limited to reviewing actual versus budgeted costs, ensuring validity and accuracy of customer deductions, and reporting of monthly trade spend results for each significant customer.  This position is part of the Finance team and works closely with internal and external customers to ensure trade spend is complete and accurate.


Essential Functions:

  • Administer and enforce deduction management policies
  • Detailed review of customer deductions for accuracy to ensure each deduction is valid and supported
  • Work with customers and AR team to ensure backup is received timely and follow-up when additional information is needed
  • Facilitate front end deals review and approval process leading to a better understanding of back end deductions
  • Perform in-depth analysis of deductions received such as trending, forecasting, and SKU level grouping
  • Upload and organize deduction backup in our document housing system
  • Ensure deductions are appropriately coded to the correct customers, brands, SKUs, etc.
  • Proactively identify trends and assist in implementing processes to continuously improve accuracy and efficiency of deductions and to prevent invalid deductions
  • Process journal entries and assist with trade spend accruals
  • Make decisions that will directly impact the organization's cash flow & profitability
  • Provide ad-hoc deduction and trade spend reporting and analysis
  • Work closely with the Sales team and provide ongoing reporting of actual deduction activity

     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, drive results, and implement change
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly change priorities and handle competing priorities
  • Must be extremely accurate and detail oriented in performing tasks and cross-checking work
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to tactfully communicate with customers and sales teams to resolve any invalid deductions or disputes

 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, with a 1-3+ years of experience
  • Trade fund management system and/or SAP experience beneficial
