Brand Director, Global Marketing - Optimum Nutrition

Reporting to the VP of Consumer & Brand Strategy, the Brand Director, Global Marketing is responsible for overseeing the Optimum Nutrition brand positioning and strategy across all markets, incl. North America, UK, Asia, Oceania and META in line with brand guidelines.

 

Based in Downers Grove, IL, the Brand Director, Global Marketing will work closely with the Regional marketing teams and the Insights & Analytics (I&A) team to unlock consumer-led brand growth for the brand, by driving awareness and category penetration in markets.

 

The role will drive the owned media content strategy for Optimum Nutrition and will work with the VP Consumer & Brand Strategy to deliver the Optimum Nutrition communications strategy.   The role is also responsible for providing the appropriate guidance and support to local markets for the effective and consistent roll out of communications.  Strong collaboration with internal and external partners and agencies will be vital in delivering a world-class storytelling strategy.

 

Ultimately this role is responsible for the brand revenue and equity growth through the delivery of efficient and effective brand marketing programs.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead Optimum Nutrition brand strategy globally, building alignment to key objectives across all markets.
  • Champion brand positioning and brand guidelines to ensure a thorough understanding of brand consistency & adherence across markets.
  • Partner with Regional Marketing and Commercial leadership teams to drive marketing objectives aligned with the overall strategic brand growth initiatives.
  • Own brand identity, positioning and global storytelling platforms and frameworks, collaborating with Regional Marketing to build a consistent brand voice & role across markets.
  • Drive brand growth through development of breakthrough Global Storytelling platforms and content across all key communication pillars to reach consumer target groups, in line with the brand role and voice and the consumer journey.
  • Support regional and local markets as they develop content within guidelines for local markets.
  • Develop and champion the owned media strategy and the corresponding content strategy across web, social and email.
  • Facilitate the sharing of market content across the regions ensuring a consistent brand look and feel.
  • Manage agency relationships (Creative & PR) for global campaigns, work alongside the internal creative team and coordinate with the Education & Advocacy team, particularly in the area of thought leadership content, to develop and launch the storytelling strategy across Paid, Earned and Owned media.
  • Collaborate with Regional Marketing teams to lead consolidated reporting of brand plans, in-market wins and local marketing spends.
  • Lead the cross-functional teams including the Regional Marketing Forum for sharing of best practice, activity updates, etc.
  • Manage, develop and coach the Marketing Assistant based in IL.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors/University degree.
  • Minimum 8 years in Brand Management in a global organisation, with experience in developing and launching content strategies, consumer communication campaigns and integrated marketing programmes.
  • A keen interest in the sports nutrition category is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to comprehensively understand and convert consumer, category, competitor and channel/customer insights into brand strategy and plans.
  • Successful track record and a passion for developing brands through impactful storytelling.
  • A digital native with proven ability in SEO management, digital content strategy optimisation, contact strategy management.
  • Experience in ROI analysis, metric-driven models and brand tracking and a track record of using data to make decisions.
  • Strong leadership skills in managing/influencing teams including agency partners.
  • Ability to navigate from the strategic level to the tactical/executional level fluidly.
