Supply and Demand Planning Manager

Job Summary:

  • The International Supply and Demand Planning Manager is results driven leader who will oversee the Supply Chain Planning Process for our US origin based International business.  The role will specifically develop production plans for new and existing products while managing appropriate inventory levels to support International and overall GPN business objectives.   The International  Supply and Demand Planning Manager plays a critical role in commercial  facing activities while resolving supply chain opportunities to meet customer order fill rate and on-time targets while avoiding inventory obsolescence.  This role also serves as a cross functional interface with key Supply Chain stakeholders involved in the International business (Sales, R&D, Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, Warehousing, and Operations scheduling).


Essential Functions:

  • Lead and develop the Supply and Demand Plans for the US origin based International business with daily interaction with internal and external customers;  
  • Focus on key driving factors that influence supply chain performance including service, cost and cash;
  • Continuously improve Supply and Demand planning techniques, method, and approach;
  • Identify and resolve supply planning exceptions in JDA through prioritization in the production schedule, re-allocation of  available raw/pack inventory and establishment of safety stock parameters;
  • Lead, influence, and implement an International Demand Planning process to ensure lead-time and production capacity requirements are considered when reviewing and approving all demands, including new product launches;
  • Ensure that all planning parameters are reviewed and updated regularly in JDA/SAP, e.g. safety stock days, MPS coverage, BOM offset and production lead time;  
  • Identify and manage potential inventory obsolescence to minimize write-offs (finished goods and raw materials);
  • Create, evolve and maintain standard operating procedures for Supply Chain specific processes tied to the International Business.  Scope includes:  Logistics (Warehousing/Transportation), Raw Material Planning, Scheduling, Systems Enablement, and International Region Reporting;
  • Communication skills are critical given internal and external stakeholder linkage;
  • Work with plants to make sure production schedules are efficient and achievable while maintaining targeted inventory levels and service objectives;
  • Conduct weekly scheduling meetings to evaluate production attainment and forward looking capacity plans;
  • Leads all Supply and Demand activities for International items produced in the US
    • Reviews Business Cases and IRFs for new International items produced in the US to ensure Supply Chain viability
    • Partners with Global Marketing to align on new products and any changes to current portfolio
    • Participates in meetings with cross-functional team members to support business initiatives and adjust plans accordingly
    • Continuously improves supply and demand planning techniques, method, and approach
  • Develops and maintains a twelve month demand outlook for all international regions
    • Leads monthly consensus meetings with each region’s commercial team to align on targets for upcoming demand and promotions
    • Collaborates with in-region supply chain teams to ensure all demand is accounted for
    • Ensures demand for all New Product Development (NPD) projects is accounted for and new items are properly setup in ERP systems
  • Develops and maintains a six month supply outlook for assigned products
    • Communicates short and long term production plans to appropriate facilities
    • Interfaces with Plant Schedulers to convert rough-cut production plan to finite schedule on a weekly basis
    • Represents Supply Planning in S&OP process by communicating supply chain issues and recommendations for resolution
    • Reviews potential shortages daily and communicates potential shortage information to appropriate teams 
    • Manages production and inventory to balance plant capacity constraints
    • Communicates exceptions to production plans and review remediation plans with key individuals including Senior Staff in addition to resolving critical product shortage issues
    • Attends weekly production meetings to communicate production misses & capacity issues and /or raw material issues
    • Reviews forecast changes and adjust production accordingly; coordinate with purchasing on raw material availability as a result of production changes

Knowledge, Skills and   Abilities:   Basic information of the position

  • Knowledge of the position
    • Exceptional analytical skills; detail oriented and well organized
    • Background in master scheduling, forecasting, order management and operations planning
    • Strong knowledge of supply planning process. Consumer Packaged Goods Industry a plus
    • Knowledge of supply and demand management tools, manufacturing and supply chain business process
    • A clear understanding of the relationships between the planning systems and their effect on demand, inventory, and service levels
    • Solid knowledge of demand and supply planning processes within an MRP environment
    • Advanced knowledge and use of MRP systems. Experience with JDA a plus

  • Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor’s degree in  Business, Supply Chain Management or related area
  • Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Years of experience: Must have minimum 6-8 years of related planning experience within an MRP manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience working in a production environment in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry is a plus
  • Specialized training in: Experience Business analytical tools a plus (SAP – Business Objects, Crystal Reports)
  • Other requirements (certifications and so forth): APICS certification preferred.
