The Opportunity

Glanbia plc is seeking to recruit a Senior Category Manager on a permanent basis with responsibility for procurement of CAPEX, Engineering, Energy & Chemicals. This is a permanent opportunity and reports to the Procurement Operations Manager.

 

While likely to be initially working remotely due to current restrictions, the base location of the role will be Citywest, Dublin 24 OR Kilkenny, upon return to the workplace with a blended working arrangement available through our Smart working model which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better work-life balance.

 

This is a senior role within Glanbia’s Group procurement team which services the procurement needs of our Glanbia Ireland division. The Senior Category Manager will lead the development, maintenance and execution of effective procurement strategies for these categories with regards to service performance, quality, cost, innovation, sustainability and ethical sourcing.

 

Key elements of the role:

  • Provide professional procurement expertise to deliver key business objectives (cost, delivery performance, risk mitigation, innovation, etc.) in the areas of Capital Equipment, CAPEX projects, project management consulting services, maintenance spares and contractors, energy and chemicals.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within the business unit (ELT, Senior Engineers, Project teams, budget owners etc. in order to achieve BU and Group priorities.
  • Develop category strategies and manage relationships with all relevant BU stakeholders to ensure alignment and commitment to implementation
  • Develop and manage key supplier relationships and maintain effective communication across all stakeholder groups to ensure full and early purchasing involvement, collaboration and foresight of potential issues.
  • Ensure that all Glanbia CAPEX, Engineering, Energy and Chemicals vendors are approved, audited, capable and aligned with Glanbia’s procurement strategy
  • Align with preferred vendors to develop and execute annual plans that will deliver Glanbia’s agenda in each category
  • Management of end to end vendor contracts process in line with Glanbia’s Global Procurement Policy.
  • On-going management and rationalisation of vendors across each category area to ensure consolidation of spend to preferred suppliers.
  • Liaise with key business unit stakeholders to co-ordinate, measure and communicate a programme of energy conservation activities between all business units and benchmark performance

 

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a related discipline

 

Skills / Experience

  • Experienced Procurement professional with a minimum of 7 years’ experience within these or similar category areas
  • The ability to effectively communicate, influence and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Purchasing and vendor management experience in other categories is desirable.
  • Knowledge of utilities and high energy consumption equipment required
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, purchasing tools and processes (e.g. catalogue and eProcurement) while not essential will be an advantage.
  • Financial understanding in the analysis and reporting of CAPEX programmes/results/forecasts/budgets and compliance to policies.
