ANALYTICS SPECIALIST

Reporting to:  Supply Chain Excellence and Business Analytic Manager

Location: Citywest

 

The Analytics Specialist will work to leverage GIs significant data resources in order to ensure a fact based data driven capability is engendered. The primary focus will be to develop and propose ready to deploy predictive and prescriptive interventions, viable optimisation models, visually insightful awareness models, and more generalised data mining based analyses. Deep rooted technical skills in advanced analytic and machine learning concepts, data modelling, will be deployed to solve complex business challenges.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose models that are quantitative based in construction and will require high end statistical based workings, application of machine learning tools and techniques
  • Determines model evolution and development in line with business challenges of intensity and necessity, awareness and absorption of analytics
  • Adept at navigating and transitioning from quick insights through deep insights out to ML  
  • Leverages data mining tools and experiences to scrub and prepare sanitised and cleansed data sets for manipulation, inclusive of identifying outliers, substitution of missing data points, overall set reduction, and partitioning of training and test sets
  • Reviews and develops GI data flows, data integrity, data repositories, data retention models
  • Delivers robust prototype models that allow for proof of concept activities to be undertaken with stakeholders via complexity of data extraction / data point size, analytic tools utilised, initial inferences solicited
  • Summarises and presents in clear fluent format in both oral and written formats, insights and inferences from modeling work undertaken
  • Takes multiple business challenges identified and fosters appropriate partnerships across Planning, Transport, and Manufacturing activities in order to design data driven interventions
  • Works to democratize data analytics in GI by championing and show-casing successes and building repository of demonstrated results across Ops and SCM function
  • Works in a co-operative fashion with GBS CoE in Analytics to share and develop common learnings, common approach to model build / deployment
  • Drives training programmes for “hard” and “soft” skills aimed at securing embedded Supply Chain continuous improvement & analytics capabilities

 

 

Key Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in a quantitative based discipline (applied mathematics, computer science, economics, operations research) reliant on mathematics / statistics
  • Demonstrated experience in design and deployment of advanced statistical modelling including machine learning tools to deliver financial results
  • Experience of high level analytical software packages / open source models
  • Coding skills / functional programming skills advantageous
  • Experience of large scale database / data processing software and tools
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work
  • Crafted and creative problem solving skills
  • Developed communication skills and an ability to translate under-pinning complex models into practical, simple, applicable business language
