An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pensions Manager to join the Glanbia Company Secretariat team.  This permanent role will report to the Group Head of Insurable Risk, Pensions & Projects and can be based in our Shared Services Centre in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, or Kilkenny office with a requirement to travel between offices weekly.

 

Overview

The Pensions Manager will be responsible for the day to day management and operational excellence of the Pension Schemes in Ireland.  They will work with the relevant internal stakeholders and be the main point of contact with the external pensions’ administrators and advisors on the operational delivery of the programme as well as implementing the chosen strategic initiatives for the different schemes. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall leadership, development and motivation of the Pensions team, including allocating and managing the work load and completing appraisals
  • Responsible for the day to day Pension, Life cover and PHI operational activities performed by the Pensions team
  • Manage the relationship with external advisors and providers
  • Responsible for undertaking key initiatives / projects aimed at furthering the effective and efficient management and delivery of pension provision in Ireland 
  • Ensure that schemes operate effectively and meet performance, quality and customer care targets, as well as complying with industry standards
  • Keep abreast of the ever-changing pension legislation & regulation ensuring compliance
  • Responsible for implementing sustained continuous improvement in the overall governance of the function - policies, process, procedures, regulation and controls
  • Produce technical / procedural guides, newsletters for employers and scheme members
  • Responsible for both Internal and External Audit ensuring seamless audits, scheme accounts, TAR and Benefit Statement preparation and submission in line with regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for implementing / updating contracts and SLAs with all external parties as well as on-going monitoring and reporting of performance against these SLAs via monthly reviews
  • Responsible for governance reporting, e.g, Control Matrices and Risk Registers
  • Responsible for the monthly Pension Control account and Bank Reconciliations’ approvals
  • Responsible for annual recovery exercise for the divisions re DB schemes, PHI & Life Cover
  • Support the Head of Insurable Risks, Pensions & Projects in implementing the necessary strategic and operational changes for the Pension Schemes in Ireland.
  • Work on ad hoc projects

 

Qualifications / Experience

We are ideally looking for candidates with the following qualifications and career experiences to date:

  • Relevant undergraduate/postgraduate qualification and related further professional development or qualification
  • Excellent technical knowledge in respect of pensions provision in Ireland and the relevant underlying legislation and regulatory environment with experience of operating at a similar level of responsibility
  • Knowledge and experience of operations of pensions across other jurisdictions, e.g., US 401k and UK pension schemes, would be an advantage
  • Have already demonstrated the ability to effectively support a full trustee body as well as the business sponsor and be comfortable leading on all aspects
  • Client focused approach with expert knowledge of pensions administration activities and previous management, supervisory and leadership experience
  • Very well developed influencing skills and the ability, aptitude and temperament to handle the strategic and the routine are essential
  • Well-developed project management skills, a very positive 'can do' and hands on approach together with the ability to positively support colleagues
  • The ability to engage, interact and develop strong working relationships at all levels with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to think logically, analytically and strategically
  • Ability to effectively plan and organise workload in order to meet critical business timescales and deadlines
  • Ability to get things done in a fast paced environment, effectively handling multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities
  • Strong IT/systems proficiency, e.g., SAP, L&P, MS Office suite
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to deliver technical issues in a clear and concise manner to a wide audience
  • Advanced presentation and report writing skills, displaying clarity of thought process and clearly and effectively transmitting technical and business messages in all mediums of communication
