Fleet Operations Manager

Job Summary

Oversee and manage the entire Glanbia internal fleet, Gooding intake bays, operators, routes and inventories to effectively transport milk, cheese, whey and whey based powders.

 

Essential Functions

  • Oversees employment and personnel of the Company transportation employees.
  • Manages internal transportation of for Milk, Cheese, Whey and Whey based Powders.
  • Responsible for repair and maintenance of trucking fleet.
  • Assists with fielding patron complaints and issues.
  • Responsible for fuel and parts purchasing for transportation.
  • Accountable for trucking department P&L.
  • Accountable for trucking department safety, insurance, milk weight/spills.
  • Balance product inventory between locations.
  • Manages capex projects related to transportaion equipment.
  • Responsible for payroll and scheduling for transportation employees.
  • Works on the budget for Glanbia Transportation.
  • Responsible for management and inspect of contract haulers delivering to Glanbia locations for U.S.D.A. and O.S.H.A. compliance.

 

Additional Functions

  • Available 24 hours a day for emergencies.
  • Manage milk sample bar code label distribution to all plants and dairies.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from college or technical school; or a minimum of seven years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
  • Clean and valid Class A CDL with T and N endorsements, bulk haulers license, D.O.T. medical card, and LVC training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, patrons, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
  •  Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

  • Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision,  ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

 

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment or light traffic).
  • May be subject to areas of air-contamination.
  • May work above ground level where a possibility of fall exists and/or near moving mechanical parts.
