JOB SUMMARY

This person will be in charge of packaging and performing regular quality assurance checks on powder or cheese.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Packages powder or cheese, seal bags, and stack on pallets
  • Ensures correct weight loaded in bags or boxes
  • Wraps stacked powder in cellophane sheets and places in warehouse with a forklift or pallet jack
  • Pulls samples of product for laboratory analysis (every 25th bag)
  • Performs tare weight check
  • Checks bin levels to avoid bins overflowing
  • Records number of bags filled
  • Monitors cheese levels in towers
  • Ensures proper unloading of cheese blocks from towers
  • Checks and records metal detector sensitivity
  • Cleans packaging room and assigned areas
  • Restocks bag room with supplies (bags, pallets, cardboard and routine maintenance items)
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Must be able to read numbers and do simple math (addition and subtraction)
  • Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
  • Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
  • Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed
  • Ability to read and write instructions in English
  • Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals
  • Must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required

Typical Environmental Conditions

May be exposed to 85+ noise levels in which hearing protection will be needed.
