Application Developer / Analyst 


An opportunity has arisen for an Application Developer / Analyst to join the Glanbia Business Services Programming Team. This is a permanent opportunity & will report to the Programming Team Lead. The role will be based in our Global Technology Centre in Kilkenny but will be remote for the moment.



The Application Developer / Analyst will work within the Glanbia Business Services Programming team to develop and support Glanbia COOP’s internally developed applications. This role will be working on increasing the capability of this strategic platform to meet the business requirements in a complex and fast paced environment. 




Key Elements of the Role

  • Work closely with COOP Systems Analyst to assist with the production of technical documents and to provide estimates of effort for changes.
  • Unit test all system developments before handing over to the business for user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure the systems are accurately documented in line with Group standards.
  • Ensure systems are developed to the relevant Glanbia and industry standards.
  • Identify areas of improvement and review with COOP Systems Analyst and key business stakeholders
  • Provide key technical input in defining, design and delivering systems solutions
  • Work with key stakeholders (business representatives, business systems analyst) to ensure systems reflect the required compliance and business needs.
  • Act as the key technical contact point for all development requirements. 
  • Work with key stakeholders to extract requirements and ensure they are adequately defined from a technical and operational perspective
  • Liaise with Glanbia Group IT Development and Architectural team to ensure developments are designed and delivered to the required standards.
  • Act as the escalation point for system impacting support issues.
  • Contribute technical vision into the definition of the strategy and direction for the business systems.
  • Ensure industry standard best practices are applied and adhered to.
  • Ensure the systems have accurate technical documentation 




  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in an IT or related discipline 



  • Ideally 5+ years Oracle Forms/Reports and PL/SQL programming experience
  • Sound knowledge of software engineering principles and theory
  • Experience with Source Code Control Tools
  • Knowledge of BI Concepts would be advantageous
  • Experience of operational systems which are closely integrated with other systems, particularly with ERP system
