Business Development Manager – Food Ingredients


The position of Business Development Manager for Food Ingredients reporting into the Senior Business Development Manager is currently being recruited. The role is accountable for growing sales with new and existing customers across international and domestic markets in line with Glanbia Ireland’s growth strategy. The successful candidate will identify and execute organic growth opportunities maximising the value of the existing core portfolio. You will be a key driver of the transformation required to achieve growth targets as well as building new sales channels. You will bring the voice of the customer to the table, driving investment strategies, shaping customer marketing and developing initiatives to ensure delivery of an excellent customer experience. You will leverage customer insights to spot innovation potential across our categories. You will develop new and existing commercial partnerships with customers in key regions.   • Coordinate and optimise the Customer Service activities relating to a specific range of customers.The position will play a key contributing role in ensuring that excellent customer relationships are built and maintained.


Key Responsibilities

  • Grow and manage the food ingredients business in your defined regions to meet short term and longer term business targets.
  • Support the negotiation of contracts, and where appropriate, represent Glanbia in contract negotiations to optimise value for both the Company and our customers
  • Develop all relevant customer facing communications, preparation of internal reports, business development reviews (KPI variance and recovery plans) and customer/market sector bespoke reports as required.
  • Manage business as usual sales activities, coordinating with other internal Glanbia functions to deliver a best-in-class service to the customer
  • Identify and achieve business growth objectives through identifying and bringing new opportunities to life with existing customers and through new market  entry
  • Contribute to market intelligence gathering and mapping the competitive landscape to inform market pricing
  • Contribute towards the development of the long term business strategy and growth plan through the food ingredients portfolio.
  • Manage relationships across all internal stakeholder groups to deliver on the customer sales strategy in the region
  • Maintain a sales network by developing and managing relationships with selected customers , routes to market and partners
  • Focus on the delivery of commercial excellence across the defined regions in line with strategic development objectives

Key Requirements:

  • Proven capability in commercial sales in a B2B context in the food industry and/or a strong Food Science background
  • Evidence of excellent relationship management skills and the ability to positively influence people across both internal and external business networks
  • Evidence of results driven, self-motivated and resourceful mind set.
  • Strong negotiation skills and strategic thinking
  • Ability to work with data and mine trends for future growth
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and career ambition.
  • Strong time management skills and process driven mind set.
  • International Travel required as part of the role.
