Position Overview

The Region Sales Manager (West) position is designed to build thinkThin existing business and generate new revenue and monitor retail conditions within the Retail class of trade. Proven ability to lead engagements   with a wide variety of existing grocery and natural channel retailers and distributors, as well as target and acquire new distribution in new and existing accounts.  Extensive experience working for or working with brokers is a must. Strong use of available data (IRI, Nielsen, SPINS, etc.) to develop compelling fact based sales presentations. Demonstrated cross functional skills working with departments such as marketing, finance, logistics, etc is essential as is the ability to develop presentations, customer plans, and set business objectives and create customer programs.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Forward planning to develop and grow thinkThin business in the channels outlined and the accounts within said channel, ultimately improving thinkThin position in the marketplace.
  • Travel as necessary (60%) to attend sales calls in person with key customers to develop new distribution and effective promotional programs.
  • The RSM is required to plan and attend specific trade shows, at times some shows are held on weekends
  • This position is required to manage brokers assigned to applicable accounts.
  • The RSM is required to manage the business by using internal systems, including but not limited to TPM (trade spend tracking) system, BDT (Business Decision Tracker), and Concur expense management system.
  • The RSM is required to work with FP&A to provide forecasting (Volume, Trade Spend)
  • The position is required to follow published sales Trade Spend guidelines and procedures.
  • The RSM is expected to follow published thinkThin employee procedures and guidelines.
  • The position requires travel to manage sales throughout the West or more outside “home market”


Tracking Tools (Company provides)

  • Monthly sales reports to track sales vs. assigned company and individual objectives (IBOs)
  • Trade Spend Management (TradePro) to plan and track trade spend
  • Category and account specific syndicated data


Minimum Job Requirements

  • Education: Minimum requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business, Sales or Marketing
  • Must have experience successfully calling on and delivering growth at Sprouts as well as with at least one of the following:  UWG, Raley’s,  Stater Bros, Save Mart
  • Requires a minimum of  recent 10 years of sales,  or equivalent related work experience
  • CPG background preferred
  • Must have the ability to quickly learn functionality of proprietary software, and syndicated data used to manage the business (TradePro, Nielsen, IRI, Concur)
  • Must be outgoing, positive and have energetic personality
  • Must have the ability to work independently, self-starter, and be exceedingly responsible
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Must have current auto insurance documentation
  • Possess a proactive attitude, initiative and drive
  • Must have superior negotiating and influencing skills
  • Possess excellent verbal communication skills with a keen ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), excellent grammar, and ability to follow-up effectively with all staffing levels and customers.
