Materials Planner

General Summary:  Gathers, enters, manages, and analyzes information to support manufacturing operations. Interacts with other departments and plants to communicate and resolve materials constrains. Analyze the requirements of materials, using MRP to provide raw material to allow for scheduled manufacturing including preferred supplier and date the materials are needed..

 

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitor inventory levels and production plans to ensure product availability while balancing cost and cash flow considerations.
  2. Utilize planning methods to evaluate relevant inventory and consumption data to make recommendations that will reduce cost or increase efficiency.
  3. Analyze and communicate constrained materials and recovery plans with supply chain group. Communicate in timely and professional manner with appropriate parties.
  4. Perform root cause analysis on supply gaps and excess stock for raw materials and packaging.
  5. Manage obsolesces of raw material by phasing out old and in new while maintaining proper inventory levels as it relates to internal space constraints.
  6. Research root cause of inventory discrepancies, along with systematic issues resulting in low available inventories and customer service levels.
  7. Work with Procurement Team to ensure inventory meets the demands and expedite/de-expedite materials to prevent shortages/overages. Maintain/Cultivate vendor development/relations with Category Manager. Communicate Supplier Delivery performance to Procurement team for long term resolution.
  8. Review and address past due, stock outs and expediting orders in a timely manner.
  9. Ensure accuracy of orders and reconciles receivables against them. Drive timing resolution of receiving issues, shipping issues and invoice discrepancies.
  10. Help to track and expedite QA release of packaging materials urgently needed for production.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

  • Knowledge of the position
    • Experience with MRP systems required; SAP and JDA preferred
    • Knowledge of all material flow processes
    • High attention to detail and accuracy while managing multiple tasks and projects with specific deadlines
    • Knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse procedures and requirements as it relates to raw material and packaging
  • Skills of the position
    • Good math abilities and reasoning skills
    • Must possess strong analytical skills to correctly interpret and anticipate manufacturing requirements and potential changes.
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
    • Great organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Intermediate computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  Decision Making/ Problem Solving:

  • Analyze and establish safety stock for they own categories
  • Manages in and out inventory
  • Identify and resolve any invoice issues                                          

                 

 

Education/Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in MPR, Supply Chain, or Planner/Scheduler role preferred
  • 3+ years inventory experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Food & Beverage industry experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain planning and scheduling
  • Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
