A vacancy now exists for a Farm Liaison Manager, based in Northern Ireland and reporting to the Strategic Farm Development Manager. This person will have responsibility for managing all farm development issues for a specific supplier base within that region.

 

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for farmers on a wide range of dairy related issues, including herd husbandry, farm management information, and local and global governance and will:

 

  • Provide high quality advice to dairy farmers in areas such as milk quality, pricing and supply contracts.
  • Interact with Suppliers in relation to laboratory results for:           
    • Milk Quality
    • Constituents
    • Animal Disease
    • Residues
  • Liaise and communicate clearly with producers on an individual basis - and with groups of producers at farmer meetings.
  • Provide comprehensive feedback on views/activities/dairy farming trends in the region.
  • Assist with the recruitment of new producers
  • Liaise and be an advisor and information source for technical advice on production methods, current regulations and legislation that affects the dairy industry.
  • Ensure compliance and assistance with all regulatory and Industry requirements.
  • Support the ongoing compliance of the Red Tractor Assurance Dairy Scheme and to incorporate low carbon technologies and techniques into farming practices to reduce the carbon footprint
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve water quality and sustainability across farms in line with EU Directives 
  • Attend shows and exhibitions.

 

The successful applicant will ideally have the following experience and attributes:

 

  • A third level qualification in an Agri or related discipline.
  • Sustainability and traceability experience in the agriculture or consumer goods industries
  • Extensive experience in agricultural, food & dairy industries
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain good working relationships at all levels in an organisation.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Commercial and financial acumen.
  • Good analytical and problem solving/creative thinking skills.
  • Strong business report writing and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record of working on own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage tasks.

 

Glanbia Ireland is a joint venture with 60% owned by Glanbia Co-op and 40% owned by Glanbia plc. Established in July 2017, it combines Glanbia Ingredients Ireland, Glanbia Consumer Products and Glanbia Agribusiness.
