Job Summary

The Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Tech.is responsible for understanding and effectively demonstrating the ability to accurately execute inbound and outbound shipments, proper storage of materials, material movement and housekeeping.       Must complete all applicable SOP and QA trainings.

Essential Functions

  • Safely and professionally operate both a stand-up, reach, and sit-down forklift.
  • Complete the pre-shift safety inspection on all heavy equipment
  • Professionally respond to email requests in a timely manner
  • Effectively communicate with various departments
  • Locate various ingredients and supplies using the company’s inventory management system (SAP)                                               
  • Receiving Bill of Lading (BOL) - verify pallet/box count, item, and quantity and identify and record damage to ingredients or supplies                                                                                                           
  • Perform truck/trailer inspection per SOP requirements
  • Efficiently and safely load and offload trailers/trucks                                                                                                                
  • Unload pallet(s)/boxes to dock                                                                                                        
  • Break down load to check dates and lots match Certificate of Analysis (CoA)                                                                     
  • Collect generated  pallet tags to affix to pallet(s)/boxes                                                                                             
  • Perform ‘put-away’ on SAP for storage of  ingredients                                                                                                              
  • Remove boxes for sampling  and store PRP sample containers with green stickers                                                              
  • Review Shipping pick sheet and verify box count and lot                                                                                                          
  • Check expiration date by lot against CoA after goods receipt                                                                                                   
  • Remove trash, recyclables, deficient materials and broken pallets out of the warehouse.
  • Maintain assigned area(s) well-kept and document cleaning activities as per the Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Operate the wrapper to wrap pallets of product            
  • Perform inventory counts through SAP
  • Service the forklift’s battery by adding water on a biweekly frequency or as requested
  • Secure upper level pallets by re-wrapping or transferring to a floor level bin.
  • Safely store, and handle hazardous materials according to OSHA guidelines and procedures
  • Participate and complete required safety inspections or audits as assigned.
  • Inspect and flush the emergency shower and eye station as scheduled
  • Receive and store all incoming materials in the proper warehouse storage areas.
  • Accurately barcode all incoming raw materials.
  • Segregate incoming raw material per material and batch.
  • Physically load/unload boxes and drums of material (25 kg) onto/from transportation vehicles.
  • Review pick list against pulled material for accuracy and shrink-wrap for safe transport, including cleaning drum lids; attaching shipping labels and checking all lot numbers to make sure proper material and lot numbers are shipped to customer.
  • Consolidate export blend shipments to meet export shipping requirements
  • Operate a scissor lift and push floor scrubber
  • Move pallets using pallet jack.
  • Identify and label inbound freight that consist of allergens, non-GMO, Enzymes and dangerous goods
  • Print appropriate Global Harmonized System (GHS) labels per material number as needed for dangerous goods
  • Accurately collect and attach shipping document to pertaining outbound orders.
  • Prepare, handle and package hazardous materials for shipping according to D.O.T standards.
  • Receive, verify compliance and properly store hazardous materials per DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Process packages using the FedEx and UPS portal  
  • Receipt inbound freight in SAP as needed
  • Pick and pack: Pull materials and place the small containers into larger boxes as needed.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates
  • Adhere to all safety rules, policies and standard operating procedure.
  • Exercise safe practices, report near misses, adherer to all safety rules, and promote safety.
  • Regular Attendance is a requirement of this function

Additional Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work flexible hours to include overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Promote and enforce to achieve zero recordable injuries in the warehouse.
  • Achieve the yearly assigned objective for accuracy.
  • Pick up and put away materials according to WO for production

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred
  • Shipping and Receiving experience a plus
  • Clear communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Standup Reach and Sit Down forklift experience preferred.
  • Must be detail orientated and able to read lot numbers.
  • Ability to follow direction and work with S.O.P.’s.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism.
  • Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid form.
  • Ability to work with allergen products.
  • Must be able to work in team environment and possess team-based problem solving skills.
  • Must be results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team goals
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to stay positive and calm in difficult and/or trying circumstances.
  • Ability to work in fast paced deadline orientated environment
  • Ability to be certified to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Ability to handle multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint

  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
