The Opportunity 

In the role you will direct and coordinate activities of whey production areas in processing raw materials and manufacturing customer specific products. This permanent position will report to the Whey Production Manager and will; 

• Responsible for the total operation of the shift and will ensure adherence to production schedule and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Lead daily crew meetings that include discussion on safety, quality and production.
• Operate machinery and troubleshoot any issues that arise while ensuring adherence to safety principles and practices.
• Plan, assign and direct work of employees and provide performance feedback addressing any complaints, resolving issues and appraising performance(s).
• Monitor cheese process equipment to identify potential errors and develop solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those problems.
• Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates.

   The Skills you will bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree or related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift and scissor lift certification and general machine maintenance knowledge.
• Provide leadership to others through examples and sharing of knowledge/skill.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to queries from leaders, clients, customers and the general public.
• Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to deal with a variety of concrete variable.   
• Knowledge of safety policies, practices and procedures and ability to lead team to adhere to them.

Where and how you will work  

The opportunity will be based in St. Johns, MI. MWC is a state of the art cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, MI. MWC is a joint venture between Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Select Milk Producers Inc. (Select).  This role is for the “C” Shift - 6a-6p Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sun one week and Wednesday Thursday the next week.
