Job Summary

The warehouse manager is responsible for all aspects of the warehouse including but not limited to the overall safety, organization and cleanliness of the warehouse in accordance with Glanbia and food industry standards.  They manage staff to ensure the timely and accurate receipt and shipment of all products per customer requirements.  They are responsible for maintaining accurate inventory using SAP.  They are responsible for supervising, training and reviewing personnel.  They work closely with quality, inventory control, and transportation.

 

Essential Functions

  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Oversee warehouse personnel, maintaining an organized, clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure the accuracy of orders picked, shipped and received under tight deadlines. 
  • Exercise independent judgment, within agreed upon limitation, makes administrative decisions and take action on behalf of the Company based on knowledge of company’s organization, policies, and personnel.
  • Ensure warehouse works closely with inventory control, quality, customer service, and transportation to meet customer service expectations. 
  • Work with staff to ensure all orders are processed in accordance with customer requirements and Glanbia standards.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for department and conduct annual performance appraisals in accordance with those procedures, Glanbia policies and safety standards.
  • Ensure the staff is fully informed and complies with all Standard Operating Procedures and safety policies.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting daily cycle counts and physical counts as needed using SAP. 
  • Investigate all inventory discrepancies and work with Inventory Control to reconcile any discrepancies. 
  • Control and maintain packing supply inventory.
  • Supervises company drivers who perform local and L.A county and, inter-company transfers, and pickups.
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse and equipment (i.e., forklifts, dock levelers, vehicles, refrigerator…) per maintenance schedule or as needed by working with facilities and outside vendors.
  • Promote company safety programs. Monitor and discipline violations.
  • Continually evaluate systems and recommend any ideas for improvement to quality, workflow, or organization.
  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees;
  • Involved in setting rates of ray and hours of work;
  • Conduct regular staff training and submit training documentation to HR;
  • Maintaining Productivity records (beyond the merely clerical);
  • Appraising productivity ; handling employee grievances and complaints, or disciplining employees;
  • Determining  work techniques
  • Planning the work
  • Apportioning work among employees;
  • Involved in determining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needs;
  • involved in planning budgets for work
  • Monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance;
  • Providing for safety and security of the workplace.
  • Safety; Zero lost time accidents and no more than 5 recordable accidents annually.
  • Quality; No more than 5 logistics complaints per month.
  • Customer Satisfaction; Combined Service Level Metric of 95%.
  • Training, 100% employee training documented through DocuSign.

Qualifications

  • BS degree and/or APICS certification highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position in a manufacturing or distribution environment (experience in lieu of education may be considered).
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Certified Forklift Trainer
  • Clean DMV record and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid forms as well as allergen products
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong Mathematics
  • Ability to handle multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities.
  • English a must (Bilingual – Spanish Preferred).
  • Strong SAP knowledge
  • Ability to exercise effective independent judgment.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel with the utmost professionalism
  • Must be results focused and oriented toward accomplishment of team goals and organizational goals.
  • Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly involves talking or listening, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • Ability to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment including respirator (which requires minimal to no facial hair).

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment, light traffic).
  • May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal domestic travel required (<5%)
